Summer Session 2 for Middle School Students
Session 2 (July 8 – July 19)
Ceramics: Slab Happy
We are going to be figuring out how many ways we can use slabs (sheets of clay) First we’ll start off making our very own mugs using soft slabs with texture then we’ll move on to making geometric forms using leather hard slabs. Lastly, we’ll put slabs of clay on the pottery wheels and make bowls and plates using two different and novel techniques.
Design: Sew a Bear Workshop
In this sewing course, you will learn how to sew a stuffed bear. You will learn the basics of machine sewing and using sewing patterns. You will draw and sew an outfit for your teddy bear and create lightweight sculptural props to go along with the bear’s outfit.
Digital: Stage Presence
Anything can be a stage when you have the right setup. In this class we will be exploring set design using found objects and paint-over processes to reimagine the world around us with a theatrical twist.
